Thank you for contributing such a wonderful post. As usual, you have conveyed a profound truth in simple language, that is, there is no substitute for hard work. Persistence pays, so never give up. And if one course does not work, take a detour. If your on-line business is not working, find another angle to work on it, but don’t give up. This is the message I got out of your write-up: a true inspiration. In your case, the hours and hours of struggle have paid off, so continue to educate us, your fans and readers. Wish you the best and three cheers to your success. Cheerio.
As you start regularly putting out content, you’ll hopefully start to build a bit of an audience. But to start seeing real money from YouTube you need to market your videos elsewhere. Share your channel on Twitter and Facebook. Distribute videos anywhere else you can think of. Also, interact with comments and build a community around the videos you’re making so people will share it with their friends.
I do appreciate your hard knocks approach. Not convinced if there is any good in making everything as “easy!”. In regards to the comment above from Ryan about being positive: I think we all want it to be fun, cheery, easy, quick, etc. etc. But the reality is that the facts and knowledge, applied wisely, is much more useful than some cheery motivational speaker. Thanks for keeping it real, that is what is going to be what helps us achieve success in the end.

Choose your niche and check for demand: The golden course combination is when you can find an in-demand niche that aligns with your skills and unique experiences. A great way to do this is to use Google Trends and Google’s Keyword Planner to look for average monthly search volume for keywords related to your proposed course content. Are people actively looking for high-quality information about this subject? Of course, if you’re already creating content for a blog, coaching service, or a site like Medium, you can test demand this way for free just like Bryan did.
Amazon offers a service called Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), which can be extremely useful for arbitrage sellers, or others selling their own products. If you opt for FBA, Amazon will store, pick, pack and deliver your products. That means you can scale your arbitrage business quickly as you don’t have to store products in your own home or waste time with postage.

I’m happy to share some of the systems I spent over a million dollars developing so you can make more money — and slash your workload, save months or years of frustration, and skyrocket your success — much faster than you’d imagine. For FREE. Why? I give away 98% of my material, and I know that by helping you achieve Big Wins and making my free material better than anyone else’s paid products, you’ll join thousands of other readers who’ve gained so much that they became students for life.

When I saw the title “5 Harsh Realities of Making a Living Online” in my Google Reader I was very happy. I agree with you, not enough people talk about the fact that it’s NOT EASY. It takes a tremendous amount of time, effort and energy – and even then you are not guaranteed the results you want. It’s basically just as risky and time consuming as building a business in the “Real” world (i.e. not online.) For some reason, people think that being “online” makes it easier – but it doesn’t.
I’ve read elsewhere the optimistic messages of making money online, and understand the points in your post here too. Setting realistic expectations is important. I think my problem is being paralysed by fear of both success and/or failure. I’m afraid to be successful because it means putting myself out there (chronically shy), and scared shitless of failure for obvious reasons (generally around life security). This keeps me paralysed from doing anything… and in the end, that’s the greatest failure of all I guess. Well, that’s my takeout from what’s written here – perhaps that wasn’t the message, but it’s what I heard 😉
Thank you for writing this. I have been LURKING for years, never commenting, but enjoying and sharing the content. Everything you said is true, I have been writing, blogging, started a Youtube Channel (800 videos now), and Instagram. Funny thing if you share food, workout pictures and motivational stuff its crazy popular. Love the blog, believe more folks would be happier working for themselves if they can keep debt under control or expenses low. Energy levels super high now that I started green smoothies everyday and adding weights to my workouts.
I’ve communicated with slaves at work and told them that I need $100 right now. One guy responded, “Princess, I need the money for lunch.” I replied, “So eat out of the dumpster. I don’t care what you need. I am more deserving of your money than you are.” He sent it. But he happened to be in the right mindset. You have to remember that these guys do not do this for me. They do it for themselves. It’s a form of submission that gets them off.
One thing I would mention is that one of my mentors told me recently that jumping from project to project is a terrible thing to do and will ensure that you aren’t able to dominate any one niche and make as much as you can. Focus is definitely needed if you are going to be successful online. Perfect one thing and then move on to the next – That’s what I would say.
Drop shipping is another great ‘hands-off’ way to sell products. Firstly you will need to find businesses that sell products in your niche that offer a drop shipping service. Then you will need to create a website promoting and selling the products. When you make a sale, you take the payment on your site and then the manufacturer ships the goods to the buyer. The profit comes from charging a higher rate than the manufacturer, and if you are selling a high number of products this can quickly add up to a healthy revenue.
Even if you have found the perfect way to make money online for you, always keep your eyes open for new and more exciting opportunities. There are many sources where you can see what the upcoming trends are and can easily find your new niche. Whatever you do, just make sure you’re communicating with as many people as possible and follow blogs and websites for relevant information, so you’ll never be outdated.

I’m pretty sure you’re either the only one or one of only 2 people I know of who recommend making a blog whole-life with the intent to profit. Mostly I see direction to split things off and not confuse the audience, or risk losing some of them by having both (for example) health & fitness posts and Arduino programming posts, or mixing blacksmithing with cooking. But between this and the Being Yourself article, I’m starting to see the wisdom of presenting a whole person. It’s just more interesting and feels like more of a relationship with the reader.

iWriter – iWriter is an old site which pays up to $15 for each accepted post. That may seem small, but they aren’t as strict as many of the others above, they are also recognised by many sites and are well known and famous. The thing i like about them is that they also allow you to pick exactly what you write. You can write as many or as few articles as you want. They will also assign you a category of writers and people can self choose you for their writing needs.
I think you need to update this post. Some websites are defunct, ShareMagnet sounds cool, I’ll check out the Gig Walk, but some seem iffy-especially if they don’t recognize my zip code? I think you should double check. I do use Swagbucks. Gazelle does NOT accept devices after a certain age or a certain “level” so sometimes, unless you are selling your 6 month old computer, ain’t worth it.
"Some people certainly use MyGirlFund as their primary platform for social interaction, although I don't think this is entirely common, but definitely on the rise," she adds. "I don't have an opinion as to whether of not it's dangerous, as that's not for me to say; it may work for some people and not for others. The only danger I've noticed is when girls do things such as GFE [girlfriend experience] when the buyer tends to forget or lose sight of the fact that this is a job for the seller, and not genuine feelings in most cases."
When I started Girls Just Wanna Have Funds, I had no idea about all of the resources available to make money online and offline with this site but it has been a blessing!  Now, I am in no way advocating that you only start a site for the purposes of making money.  Especially in personal finance.  You will fail miserably because it will come through in your writing.  Pick a topic that you are truly invested in and start there.
Normally you’ll be asked to test a few websites by visiting them and to document and record your reactions and thoughts as you go through it. It’s really easy to get set up making extra money online by testing websites. All you need to do is sign up to the following services: UserTesting.com, Userlytics, TryMyUI, Userfeel, TestingTime (UK only), or Side Income Jobs.

Shoutmeloud, is another famous site by Harsh Agarwal which has ample of following in digital world. As per his monthly blogging income report, He earns around $40,000 per month from it and what’s more interesting is that with the blogging money, he bought his own car and flat and just to let you know that when he started blogging he wasn’t’ earning at all, and after months he was just making around $400 per month.

Better yet, you can even upload your own book to one of the world’s largest book sellers: Amazon. With Amazon self-publishing, you set the price, retain the rights to your book, and get access to Amazon’s massive audience. For every sale, you keep 70% with Amazon taking the remainder as a fee. If you want to get started, check out Leslie Samuel's great guide to selling eBooks online or follow Tara Gentile on CreativeLive as she shows you how to use your existing body of work to write an eBook within the next week. Who knows, you might just write one of the best business books of this year!

Once you understand how everything works, and your expectations are set the right way, decide what you want to do. Do you want to become an affiliate marketer? Do you want to be a network marketer? Do you want to become a blogger and sell your own products? Squeeze pages, which are glorified sales pages that attract people and direct their attention towards a single action of providing their email address, are created in a variety of methods. The better they are, the more likely they'll convert.
Now, if you don’t know people who might want your coaching services, there are a number of online tools and communities that make it incredibly easy to find clients and teach, on just about any topic area you can think of. Community driven platforms like Savvy.is, Clarity.fm, and Coach.me provide you with a network of potential clients to interact with, as well an integrated payment solution.
Using Fiverr is a great way to pick up work. Once you have signed up you can advertise your services. Fiver allows you to create your own gigs, whether you are offering web design, digital marketing, writing, or something else. You can choose how much you want to charge (it can be more than a fiver) and people will then contact you if they are interested in working with you. Fiverr will not only help you get experience if you are just starting off as a freelancer, it will also help you earn some extra cash.
